Mental (EQ4 Athletics)

Based on the Book Mental (Tate 2013), This course explores the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and performance. It teaches participants how to develop mental strength by becoming aware of and regulating their internal dialogue, referred to as “the chatter.” Drawing on concepts from neuroscience, emotional intelligence, and performance psychology, the course presents five core mental skills that help individuals improve decision-making, emotional regulation, focus, resilience, and performance under pressure. The course emphasizes that thoughts influence emotions, emotions influence decisions, and decisions ultimately influence behavior and performance. Participants learn practical strategies to recognize disruptive thinking patterns, replace negative self-talk, develop concentration, organize thoughts, prioritize effectively, and create new ways of thinking that support growth and achievement.
